Road running is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, with the only initial financial outlay being required for a decent pair of cushioned trainers. It’s easy for any level of runner to partake in races, with all abilities being welcomed from the swiftest four minute miler, to those that may have to walk to complete the distance. The sense of achievement at completing your first race is hard to match.
On Sunday 11 December in Portsmouth, a 5K and 10K Santa Fun Run is being held to raise funds for the RNLI, with the race starting at 11am from the Rock Gardens on the South Parade.
The £15 entry fee will see all finishers receive a medal, a goody bag and Santa suit to be worn when taking part. The race limit is 1,000 entrants with application via the website www.fitprorob.biz
Alternatively, join the Boxing Day Round the Lakes 10K at Poole Park, Dorset www.pooleac.co.uk The race is due to start at 10.30am, and is a perfect chance to clear the heads from the previous day’s celebrations whilst working off that Christmas turkey and extra helping of pudding.
