Green Day’s explosive, award-winning Broadway rock musical American Idiot, is due to hit Southampton next October.

The story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world, American Idiot, will open at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre, with tickets going on sale 10.00am, Friday 9th December.

Showings are on Tuesday October 9 at 8.00pm, Wednesday October 10 at 8.00pm, Thursday October 11 at 8.00pm, Friday October 12 at 5.00pm and 8:30pm, and Saturday October 13 at 4.00pm and 8.00pm.

"We're excited to be bringing the US stage production of American Idiot to the UK and Ireland," said Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong.

He added: "We played to some of the most insane crowds when we toured the album there, and we
can't wait for our friends across the pond to see the musical."
