Camp Bestival 2010 Review

August 2, 2010
Wow, what a weekend! After three days and nights of solid partying at Camp Bestival, I'm absolutely shattered, but it was well worth it.

The beautiful setting of Lulworth Castle couldn't have been more perfect, with amazing 360-degree views over the Dorset countryside - and it hardly rained at all.

Camp Bestival is designed to be child-friendly, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Not only was there a wealth of activities for the kids - fancy dress parades, workshops, rides, boutique babysitting, story time, making a clay mountain, medieval jousting, a circus... but it was super-organised, with 'lost children' points, a wristband for every child with the parents' mobile number, and the cleanest toilets I have ever seen at a festival. The Gruffalo stage show was by far far the best-attended gig of the whole festival, the kids were enthralled.

The fun wasn't just limited to our tiny friends, but having them there is what makes Camp Bestival so unique - their giggles fill the air, and a child's paradise full of silliness and adventure has more than enough appeal for the adults, too.

The variety of live acts on offer was phenomenal as always. Camp Bestival 2010 boasted a fantastic line up of musicians, DJs, comedians and performers. In every corner of the extensive festival grounds there was something different going on, at all times. It was hard to know what to go and see next, and in the end we abandoned all timetable-planning and just got lost in the atmosphere of it all.

The choice of food on offer was amazing. From the humble burger to home-made mash, Goan fish curry, chocolate heaven and the excellent River Cottage Café, it seems like we spent most of the weekend eating to our heart's content!

Highlights include: DJ Yoda - mixing and blending our favourite old skool tracks and theme tunes – Rufus Hound (not for the kids), Annie Mac, dressing up as a tiger for the day, George Clinton, Gentlemen’s Dub Club, and the animal farm…

Can't wait for next year, when we'll hopefully catch the acts we missed this time!
