Jewel of the Jurassic coast, Durlston Castle in swannage, has recently been renovated with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Offering a world-class interpretation and study centre in the heart of the Purbecks, they have opened the Fine Foundation Gallery, with a packed agenda of exhibitions planned for 2012.
The gallery’s first exhibition, fittingly called ‘Beginnings,’ is a dazzling display of artworks available to view now until 15 December. The show is free entry and open 11am to 4pm daily.
With views across the bay and light flooding the gallery space, it’s a fitting location to showcase the works of talented local painters, sculptors, photographers and craftspeople.
From timeless and classically carved stoneware, to fine art watercolours, unique photographs, exquisite seascape embroideries and surreal imagined landscapes, ‘Beginnings’ presents viewers with fresh perspectives and insights into their regional landscape. All work is for sale, perfect for a unique momento.
The new visitor centre, cafe and gift shop at the castle is also open. Watch out for events at this exciting new space and show your support for our talented creative’s.
Durlston Castle is located at Durlston Country Park, Lighthouse Road, Swanage, Dorset. For more information, visit www.durlston.co.uk or call 01929 424443.
