Musicians interested in entering the Dorset Music Awards 2012 need to act quickly as the deadlines close this Sunday.

The Dorset Music Awards (DMAs) offer great opportunities to bands and musicians in the area, with previous winners walking away with professional PR packages, equipment, recording time, slots at festivals and airplay on BBC Radio 1, 2 & 6Music. Not to mention all the free exposure local artists get, with bands like Fearne (left) that make it to the finale performing at the O2 Academy.

For this year’s competition, new categories have been added, including ‘Favourite Recording (EP or Album)’, ‘One Great Song’, ‘Contribution to the Music Scene.’ Musicians can turn the tables and vote for their ‘Favourite Venue to Play’. For the first time this year, bands in Christchurch and Ringwood are also be eligible to enter.

The first heats of the competition will be held on 21 and 22 January at Centre Stage.
