Peter Pan at The Mayflower Review

December 14, 2011
Flying into The Mayflower this Christmas is an enchanting family musical.

From the Producers of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Wizard of Oz, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical and 2010's smash hit Aladdin comes a brand new production of the much beloved Peter Pan.

We first meet the illustrious Peter Pan (Daniel Boys) as he sits outside of a Wendy Darling’s (Katie Ray) bedroom, listening to her read bedtime stories to her brothers John (Tom Hopgood) and Michael (Adam Pinock).

The siblings long for adventure but their parents are ever so strict. Peter is spotted and is soon recalling his heroic adventures in Neverland to the trio.

So they decide to hell with it all and to go to Neverland. But how are they going to get there? With the help of Peter’s fairy friend Tickerbell of course. With a sprinkling of her magic dust and some happy thoughts the new friends are off and away.

But all is not happy in Neverland. Peter’s evil foe Captain Hook (Ben Richards) is forever trying to defeat the boy who refuses to grow up and his gang of lost boys.

Hook may have a gang of gnarly pirates at his side but he also has Smee (Les Dennis), so that evens the odds quite considerably.

Peter can’t wait to show Wendy all the magical delights of Neverland; the mermaids and the Indians. However with his fight with dastardly Hook looming, it’s difficult to have fun.

Peter comes to realise that he likes Wendy more than he should and that perhaps growing up wouldn’t be so bad after all...for about a second and then he’s back to his normal self.

With stunning sets, breathtaking flying sequences, and a stellar star cast Peter Pan is a definite must-see musical. So don’t miss out on this magical story of friendship and courage this Christmas.

Peter Pan is showing at The Mayflower until Saturday 14th January 2012. For more information visit The Mayflower's web site or call the Box Office on 02380 711811.
