From its origins on the sun-soaked beaches of Santa Monica, California, beach volleyball arrives at glamorous Sandbanks Beach this month to showcase the best of Britain’s talent.

Billed as Britain’s biggest, free beach volleyball tournament, from 16 -17 July Sandbanks Beach Volleyball Festival will see players of all ages fight to be crowned as British champions on the so-called ‘Platinum Peninsula’ in Dorset. The event incorporates the Men’s and Women’s British Open (part of the Volleyball England Beach Tour) and the British Junior Championships, showcasing top up-and-coming players aged between 12 and 18.

With almost 600 players taking part last year, entry spaces this year are limited with the closing date on 06 July. However, as a great spectator sport this is an excellent opportunity for social volleyball players to admire the masters at work, and pick up a few tips whilst they’re at it!
