Omid Dijalili @ The Pavilion – 05 Feb

January 9, 2012
After several hours of comedy research, I can now confirm that Iran boasts a surprising wealth of home grown performers. Shappi Khorsandi, Patrick Monahan and Omid Dijalili – who plays the Pavilion in Bournemouth on 05 February – all have Iranian lineage and are all award-winning comics.

Coincidence? Maybe, but it still suggests comic inspiration has permeated the Persian water. Omid Dijalil has performed at venues across the globe, from Australia and Denmark to the United States and Canada, as well as starring alongside Whoopi Goldberg in her American sitcom, Whoopi.

However, he is perhaps best known for his bit part in 1999 movie The Mummy and in the lead role of David Baddiel’s 2010 film The Infidel.

If you like your comedy more international than David Attenborough’s suitcase, then this show will suit you perfectly.

Tickets cost £19. Doors open 8pm.For more information, visit www.bic.co.uk.
